How scanning works

  1. Give each student their own printed copy of the paper. Each page carries a signed code in the corner.
  2. After the test, photograph the pile with a phone, or use the office scanner. The pages can be in any order.
  3. WISCA finds each page by its code and reads the answer circles.
  4. Accept the clear readings in one go. A circle it could not tell is yours, and a page that cannot be read is set aside for you.

Why no separate OMR form

A bubble-sheet system reads answers marked on a special form. In WISCA the circles are printed on each student's own paper, so there is nothing extra to print, hand out or match up. The page code tells WISCA whose page it is and which paper it belongs to.

Written answers

Written answers are marked in a grid with one row for each student and a column for each question. If the school has switched on handwriting reading, WISCA can suggest a reading, which the teacher confirms. A teacher can also fill in the grid by hand without scanning anything and still get the results page.

The teacher decides

Every reading is a suggestion until a teacher confirms it, and nothing reaches a student or a parent until the teacher shares it. See marking and results for what happens next. Book a demo to try it with a pile of your own.

Common questions

Do I need special OMR sheets?

No. The circles are on each student's own printed paper, so no separate form is needed. WISCA reads them from a phone photo or a scanner and matches each page to its student by its code.

Can I scan with a phone?

Yes. Photograph the pile with your phone, or use the office scanner. WISCA finds each page by its code, so the pile can be in any order.

What happens to a page WISCA cannot read?

It is set aside for the teacher instead of being guessed. A circle WISCA could not tell is also left for the teacher.

Does WISCA mark written answers too?

Written answers are marked in a grid, one row for each student and a column for each question. If the school has switched on handwriting reading, WISCA can suggest a reading, which the teacher confirms.
